The 1N4007 are a very commonly used power diode and are often used for reverse voltage protection on DC input circuits and also used in many power applications such as DC-DC converters.

Because the 1N4007 can handle up to 1000V reverse voltage and up to 1A of continuous current with a surge peak of 30A, it is often used for flyback diode applications since it can handle a very high reverse voltage and up to 1200V non-repetitive peak reverse voltage.

1N4007 are polarized axial-leaded devices with a silver band denoting the cathode end of the diode.
